Vulcan restoration

Postby Sir_Jon » Sun May 21, 2006 4:25 am

It seems that the Vulcan to the Sky project is running into finacial difficulty after 8 years of work on the Avro Vulcan could all end as they are running into financial diffuculties. It will be such a shame if it is all for nothing. I would love to see the Vulcan fly as it was way before my time  :'(.

Sad but I can't say I'm surprised. This always was a very ambitious project even with that National Lottery grant. Not trying to be cynical but you have to be realistic. It's not just the expense of restoration or maintenance you have to consider but the operating costs once it's operational. Forgetting everything else I dread to think how much the fuel would cost for just one display. Sorry but without a decent sponsorship deal I reckon the dream is dead.

Its been on the cards mow for the past month or so - I think Marshalls and other contractors may have upped their quotes a bit. Then think that apparently the hangar costs
