Movie flying: capricorn 1 (part 2)

They overwhelm the two guards outside...

And steal the Lear. A little trouble getting the airstair door up... Go, OJ!! :D

Ulp... the bad guys have blocked the runway with their ridiculous Valiant (?) pursuit cars...
Image

But of course the intrepid commander rotates just in time to clear them, although he loses a gear leg in the process.
It should be noted that there is no CGI or green-screen stuff here... don't ask me how they did this shot.
The aerial coordinators were of course Tallmantz (minus Mantz, unfortunately, but still the best).

They don't get too far due to lack of fuel, but they make a realistic-looking belly landing in the desert...

Then split up (smart).

Enter the black Hughes 500s... these pilots are superb, but it is silly in the story that they stick together while searching a vast area for 3 people...
Image

But it makes for some amusing stuff. The two choppers behave as if they have personalities of their own; makes it more entertaining.

Next: a reporter smells a rat, and joins the hunt
