She won't be the only one this year. It'll be nice if the 109 flies as well before it departs abroad, but IIRC the restorer tends to ship abroad then test fly...

Don't forget though, there is a Bf109 with RACo at Breighton Airfield (near Selby) due to hopefully make it's first flight at some point next year. Not the same as a genuine Me109 admittedly but it's still a nice one. It performed taxi runs at several of the RACo events (I saw it do these several times, great aicraft).

Breighton's only just down the road from here, and I've flown past it a few times. But to be fair, it's only a Buchon, and I've seen a few of those before... I would love to see a real 109E fly (it'd be the first real 109 since Black 6 in the UK). It'd be nice if Mr Russell brought his over from Canada though for Legends one year...

Blimey, if they did it right you could theoretically have 2 109's at Legends this year! Last time we had anything like that would've been 1995 or 1996 with the two 109Gs...

Acording to a man on the gate at wattisham ( i asume you meant the 109 at wattisham) the 109 did fly becuase it had a problem with the fuel tank and was shiped to paul allen in seattle for the prob to be fixed there
on the hurrican that is due to take a few extra test flights then it will be shipped to the usa

btw i have a pic of the 109 from last years wattisham open day and i have some video of it on the ground somewhere but i cant find it at the moment

I agree that a proper Me109 would be better of course but at least the Bf109 gives you the general idea of what an Me would be like. It would offer some great opportunities for a chase sequence with the the RACo Hurricane as well...

Nice shot but Bf 109 & Me 109 are alternative designations for the original German-built DB-powered aircraft & either is correct. That's a Hispano HA-1112-M1L Buch

Bf is technically more correct than Me (Bf comes from the factory name Bayerische Flugzeugwerke, as apparently Willy Messerschmitt wasn't the most popular chap in the Third Reich). Only when the company became Messerschmitt A.G did the aircraft take ME designations, starting with the Me163 Komet...

It is a shame these aircraft are set to go over seas but on the bright side we should get two new Spitfires, incuding a Vb Trop, and a Seafire in the air this year and in the UK. Hope they are all ready for Legends or at least the Spitfire show in September.

There were some on the ukar board before it had a problem but i am not sure they are still on there

p.s i saw the hurricane fly i think there might be some pictures on the raf or army website because a lynx was flying in formation with it
