Airshow Season 2006

Postby flyboy 28 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 6:58 pm

Well, it's that time again. Airshow season is fixing to kick off pretty soon. So what shows are everyone going to?

I'll be at NAS Willow Grove, maybe Millville, McGuire AFB, Atlantic City's "Thunder Over the Boardwalk", and perhaps Dover.

Millville had quite a few things. At least when I was there a few years ago.  The Thunderbids performed, but had to cancel most of thier really impressive stuff due to high winds and cloud cover, but other than that it was good. Got to see the inside of C-17, absolutly massive, there was a nice shiny chrom Mitchell there too. Millville also has an auto show part to it as well.

Ill definatly be at AC, possible Millville and McGuire (only about 25 mins away, but it takes a forever and a day to leave the parking lot), and possible Willow Grove. Probably not Dover. My intentions revolve around dates at this point. It would be nice to take my exchange student to see the American military's skill, but that means a show between the 4th and 14th of June, and the 23 June-3 July are off limits because I will be a couple thousand miles away.

I'm going to try to make most of them but, the one I won't miss will be The WWII weekend at Reading, PA on June 2nd to the 4th.

I'm looking 'forward to the TICO Warbird Airshow this weekend (just outside Cape Canaveral Space Center), and in early April, the Sun 'n' Fun show in Lakeland.

Other than that, I have to satisfy myself with a trip here and there to Fantasy of Flight..

I'd love to go to the Sun n' Fun Airshow.  I think every P-51 in the country makes it to that show.

It's your typical airshow. Think Sussex with the Thunderbirds. :) Also the year I went (2003 I think) they had the RCAF Snowbirds there. That was a fun show. Also a C-5 demo, which also goes on at Dover. Loud!

Say Rotty, you may just be able to fly in. :)

To Millville? No doubt I could. But here's the problem:if I have the plane out all day on a weekend, I have to pay a 5-hr minimum.
:P
But it might be possible to do some extra flying in addition to the (short) RT, maybe before the show.
Or... I could join the flying club at Solberg before then; bigger fleet and I believe a lower all-day minimum.

Didn't know there was a flying club there. It's a nice facility. I've been in the link trainer there. I want one! :P

Here's two pics of mine from Solberg if anyone's interested..
