For me Farnborough is definitaly a no go, just like the Paris Airshow. Went to Paris once, all I could see from the normal public areas was a huge line of VIP tents. You need a press pass to get really close to the action (like on Fairford).
Don't forget events like Farnborough or Paris aren't for the airshow die hards. No, it's just a trading show and yes, if you trade aircrafts, you need to show them which makes it look like an airshow.
The good thing is you usually get to see the latest at a trading event (like the V-22) but with RIAT the weekend prior to F'borough... you'll get the same menu. Other good thing is that when manufacturers want to sell their jets, they'll try to pull out the best display they can, but who sees the difference?
Oh, and if a B-52 is coming to Farnborough for a fly by, don't expect too much. :)
The result is that I'm only going to Fairford and Duxford this year. With another Belgian show the weekend after Fairford, my July is fully booked.
