Citation Jet Crash

We just had a Citation Jet which crashed at the Palomar Airport (about 40 miles north of San Diego, CA) killing all four on board. Primary report was that it came in too fast and too far down the runway. The plane overshot the runway and burst into flames but did not hit anything past the runway. They found the reverser not deployed. Some witness said that it appeared that the aircraft was attempting to take off (touch and go) again but failed to regain take-off speed. That probably accounted for why the reverser was found retracted.
Sad day for aviation.

He was coming in at 227 knots (according to report). Landing speed for that type aircraft is suppose to be 105-112 knots. The runway was just over 4K feet.

If those reports are true, you have to wonder what in God's name the flight crew could have been possibly thinking.

All speculation and blame aside, a sad day for aviation indeed.

Very bizzare incident. In the conversation with the air traffic controller the pilot made no indication there was somethig wrong with the airplane.
