*STUPID QUESTION TIME*

Hey all,
just abut the landing procedure in a civil jet. When they land the main gear on the runway, do the pilots then apply airbrakes, and when the nose gear touches the ground, use reverse thrust?

The airbrakes are deployed automatically I believe (providing they are set to do so in the cockpit) - probably via some sort of weight on (main) wheels microswitch arrangement. I imagine there's a similar arrangement for the nose gear to allow the throttles to be moved back past flight idle...

Charlie is correct (like usual)  :)
The spoilers are automaticly deployed when the main gear touches the ground (when pressure is applied on the struts), but on most aircrafts you have to put the spoilers in the ARM mode.
It may be interesting to know that the spoilers actually consists of inflight and ground spoilers.
During a descent if the crew wants more drag they will (and are only able to) extend the inflight spoilers to a certain angle, or else the hull will be severely damaged by the vibrations. But when the aircraft touches the runway, EVERY spoiler panel (inflight+ground) will extend to its maximum.

And the reverse thrust is usually connected to an air ground sensor, which has to be in ground mode OR if the radio altimeter is less than 10ft(3m). I know that doesnt apply to every aircraft, the DC8 comes to mind.

However, in aircrafts with both forward thrust levers and reverse thrust levers (such as any Boeing) you cannot select reverse thrust unless forward thrust levers are in IDLE

Okay, so basically what I said, but the spoilers are auto-deployed or put into ARM mode (Shift+/ on FS9) and thrust reversers are aslo auto-applied (not on any Boeing, though...)

They spoilers will auto-deploy if the speedbrake lever is positioned in the ARM detent.

Reverse thrust is not deployed automaticly, it has to be done manually by the crew.
