Yak and Chipmunk

Postby Tweek » Sun Oct 02, 2005 12:29 pm

Atm I've got a Yak (52?) and an ex-RAF Chipmunk in formation circling Leicester Airport, which are in turn going by my house :P A rather unusual formation at that, a kind of east meets west thing going on. I'll try and get some crappy pictures if they come round again...

Ah, most probably a Yak-50 actually...

Haha, I can imagine! Both of them were still wearing air force colours (as I could see the Chipmunks red and white through the binoculars) so it would be quite fitting :) Or, they were just on a peaceful Sunday evening flight...we shall never know...

Not entirely unfeasable. I believe the station flight Chippies at RAF Gatow in Berlin routinely popped over the border to have a poke around East Berlin...
