Marta Bohn-Meyer was killed Sunday, practicing aerobatics. Canopy came off during a climb for a hammerhead, but was found with handle and pins in the locked postion. I guess nobody knows why yet, but it seems like just one of those little, stupid things that can end a brilliant aviation career, and a very exciting life...
First female NASA crew member (and the second woman) to fly the SR-71, chief engineer at Dryden, etc. etc... She certainly achieved a great deal in her time, and apparently didn't let her gender "handicap" faze her in the least.
