Would love to!

I'll get back to ya. I think I scheduled an IFR lesson for this Sunday. I'll check my calendar tonight when I get back home.

Sorry to get back so late. There's a set of power lines that if you can do your entire approach within, you're considered a god-like pilot. ;D Lotsa rudder. :P

But seriously, if you want to come up my way, give me a shout and I'll be glad to meet you there. You too, rotty.

Hey Rim, I honestly don't know what's the situation with your parents. I don't know if I need to get permission in writing or something since you are under age.

I did the EAA Young Eagles thing and i took up 9 year old kids but that was covered (legally and most importantly insurance wise) under EAA's insurance.

In your case ... I don't know for sure.

Anybody knows what the rules are?

KVAY is anice airport.  The FAA wanted the to extend the
runways to use as a emergency landing for small
Commuter jets and planes but the neighbors were
fighting it.  I don't know were it stands now.  When the
time comes for me to take lessons it will most likely be
there.  Need to start soon since i'm in my 40's( but, still
think i'm 18 according to my Wife )

Well, hey. My dad would probably drive me and give oral consent. I know it has the same legal content as written consent. And I wasn't even referring to you taking me up, but if you want to, fine by me. :)

I imagine your own insurance would cover a minor as it would any other passenger, but I'd feel sorta... vulnerable... without  (legally binding? written?) permission from the 'rents.
In the very unlikely event that something happened and the kid gets hurt, the parents might be inclined (and encouraged by their lawyer) to go after the pilot for a little something extra (like everything you've got), unless it could be proven to the court that they gave permission and the pilot had insurance for passengers.
Come to think of it, they might sue anyway... :P
That's it; no more passengers for me... ;D

Seriously, though...sounds like a question for AOPA.

Ah! That's the ticket! I'll give them a call!

Nothing personal Rim ... if we were in the Golden Age of Aviation when aviation was an adventure and getting in trouble was YOUR fault and YOUR own responsibility (and not someone else's) and lawyers didn't rule the land I'd do it in a heartbeat.

In today's litigious society, if you fart too loud and give a heart attack to a bird, which in turns falls in the shopping basked of an old lady thus causing her "psychological discomfort" you'd get sued by her, the City, the Vice-president of PETA for unusual and cruel killing of a bird and by the NRA for denying them a "potential target".

You get the point ...  ;D

I'm actually available for Sunday. My lesson is 3-6pm ... so I can do lunch in Cape May.

Again.

Hey, if I flap my arms fast enough and keep up with you
guys, can I come.  I've got to learn to fly because it looks
like you guys have a great time and driving down isn't as
fun. I hate the A.C. Expressway and the Garden State
Parkway even more.

Hmmm... I was gonna fly this weekend, too, but I'm trying to get a friend off my list to go with me. Maybe I'll book 715  for Sunday morning, and we'll do a fly-in again.
There's a lot of pctures I have to re-take down there!
