Air show collision

Postby The Ruptured Duck » Tue Jul 12, 2005 10:40 am

I just read in the newspaper this morning that 2 air show performers, Jimmy Franklin and Bobby Younkin, died in an air show collision.  Jimmy Franklin was the only person to strap a jet engine to the bottom of a Waco, and have a wing walker at the same time.  Apparently Jimmy Franlkin, Bobby Younkin, and Jim Leroy were imitating a WW1 dogfight when Franklin and Younkin collided and exploded.

Going to be a sad time at the Indy Air Show this year. Both were well known and liked there. Condolences to both their families.  :(
