Which looks better?

Postby Vic » Sun Apr 17, 2005 6:27 am

Well, it seems that in the days leading up to its first flight, everybody is catching A380 fever, so I am just going to throw some oil into the fire!
Now, from the front and from the side, the A380 looks like a complete different aircraft. In my opinion, from the front it is a pretty ugly aircraft - it is missing something above the cocpit, but from the side it is a beauty. In my opinion, the A380 from the side is much more pleasant to look at than any 747 I have ever seen. Well, let me hear your input!

IMO the A380 is one of the ugliest things Ive ever seen. But it is a masterpiece of engineering afterall, it dosnt matter how it looks as long as it gets the job done.

Before they painted it, the A380 looked like it had a face!

The 747 just has more... character. I'll always love that big mama... from every angle.

I like the smooth, contoured lines of the 747, especially from the side.

I prefer quartering shots... a 747 picture that has the wingtip lined up with the nose looks really great.
The day is always better when you're flying upside down.

I remember thinking when the 747 first appeared how ungainly it looked compared with other jet airliners like the Comet, 707 & DC-8. Now I'm used to it I think it's very graceful for such a large aircraft & it's probably my favourite of all the jet airliners in service. (I wouldn't call it beautiful compared with Concorde which took my breath away no matter how many times I saw it.)

I've found the same with new model cars & it takes a while to get used to anything. The A380 might look quite different in the air so we shall have to wait & see. Your opinion might change in a few months time, providing you forget politics & judge the aircraft on its own merits. ;)
