To be honest I don't know of anyone who listens to those announcements...whether they are filming the takeoff or not....yeh of course a few will but next time you are on a flight you will notice about half of the flight is not even paying attention
Yep - but Craig is right. The airline can then say that they did all they could to ensure they had your attention in the board of enquiry if a crash occurs. In todays compensation culture this is paramount.
Take the example from last year's civil accident stats. You'd expect the larger insurance payouts to be from the crashes with larger aircraft, but in actual fact the biggest payout last year was after the crash of a small ( <15 seat )regional turbo-prop in the US...
