No doubt about you guys, you have "the knowledge."
While on the subject of Wanaka, here is a rare vintage, probably the last one in the world.

Cripes! By any chance are they still airworthy?

Wanaka I-16s should be all airworthy, but i think they put some single-row DC-3 engines in them instead of the russian engine
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV[/ur

I had a check of this one. The original engine was a Shvetsov M-62R, with the restotred examples being powered by the ASh 62 (basically the same engine but a later example)

I was at the wanaka airshow last year and my god it was amazing.  All those polikarpovs are airworthy and the La-9 is the only flying example left in the world.  THe most amazing thing about last years airshow is that the got the mk16 spitty and a sopwith camel flying together in formation!!!! but only for a second because the sopwith camels top speed was the spitfires stalling speed. i have alot of nice shots of all these aircraft flying but my scanners broken so .....ummmm ill see what i can do

hehe ;)

cheers

As pointed out, it's the Hangar of the Wanaka Warbirds Assn in New Zealand, I've been trying to get there for a while now.

There is some nice free "Wanaka" photo real scenery available.

Thanks Dave,

I've had that installed for a few months now, and having recently re-visited Wanaka I have been able to really have a good look at it in terms of realism.      All in all it's great stuff, unfortunately you fly "out of it" into ACOF too rapidly.    It's well worth the download if you spend some time flying the area however I suspect it a bit too remote for the tastes of 98% of the "foreigners" on this site....lol.

Anyway, thanks for the "heads up."
