ILS Approach HELP!!!!

O.K I have all the settings "Autopilot on" correct flying steady on course (Boeing 747). Altitude, speed O.K. now we come to the landing. Fine via VFR just about.!!

However with the IFR rules the last command comes "Turn left heading ...etc then expect vectors for the ILS approach/runway.  I cannot whatever I seem to do intercept this I see no visual or audio confirmation. tried "Approach Hold" Button.

Generally, just fly right by.....So frustrating. I just can't get into the glideslope. Where am I going wrong.

Can anybody suggest what I should be looking for/try?

Really is driving me nuts sitting for 30-60 Mins only to mis the approach every time!

I'll confess I'm probably trying to run before I can walk but I'd like to know what I am doing wrong.

First of all, I think this should be in the FS9 forum, I'm sure a mod will move it there...

Anyhoo, let's help you on your little prob shall we?

The first thing is to tune your radios to the frequency of the glidescope. Make sure that you are also at 3000 feet (use the ALT HOLD button to aid you on this). Turn the flight director on, and ignore the orders from ATC telling you to turn, as the approach will then involve another turn. Instead, open up the GPS and turn when yout think you are perpendicular to the runway, and the flight director will tell you to go left or right to intercept the glidescope. However, you should have your NAV button on yor autopilot panel turned on by now, so the plane should be doing all the turning for you.

When the plane has intercepted and fully following the G/S, click on the APPROACH button. This will automatically turn off the NAV button and the ALT HOLD, as the APPROACH will then control your descent onto the runway. You should however also use flight school to help you.

Make sure that your landing gear is down and that your flaps/slats have been fully extended!

Here's a trick I learned-assuming you are using fs9, you can program an approach for your assigned runway into the module, and when you hit nav the aircraft will fly the runway heading, then you can hit APP (with nav/gps set to nav, of course) and track the glideslope when you intercept it. Try the fs9 help center to learn how to do this, people never understand me when I explain it.

And when ATC says "expect vectors" they're pulling your leg. You will get a general vector, but it is YOUR job to make the turn onto final. Practice practice practice.

What i normally do is follow the ATC's instructions until final.
