No More Discovery Wings

Postby `Josh » Fri Dec 03, 2004 1:12 pm

It's official....Discovery Wings is going to be no more.  On January 10th, it's going to be changed to the Military Channel.

Although the channel did repeat its shows a whole lot, I still loved watching it.... :(

Probably more interest in the historical/military themes than in watching "how to build a helicopter" etc.  (As interesting as those subjects are)

I was wondering what the whole military channel thing was.  Too bad, I liked a couple of shows on it a lot.  At least we still have Air Emergency on National Geographic.

That's sad!

I really enjoyed their "Learning to Fly" series -- I got a bunch on tape, thankfully. Also "Airport" which went behind the scenes at Heathrow.

I always wondered how much of a market there was for this kind of things -- guess not enough!

airport i believe is due to move to another channel. One of my personal favourate shows over here in the uk, its nice they actually focus on the workers and actual events rather than just bitchy passengers the whole show

Yah --- the couple of episodes I watched were awesome!  Guess I need to scour the listings before Jan 10 and tape as much as I can. :)

Well all I ever saw of it was when the local cable station would give us previews every few months and I would literally sit in front of the tele the whole weekend watching the history etc. shows that they played..

never wanted it enough to pay an extra $30 a month for "platinum" channels...

lol, I'm 22 and the parents pay for everything besides the DSL which I gladly pay for.. :-)

and after 3 months or whenever they get rid of aol, they will pay what they paid for aol, and I will make up the 3-5 dollar difference as long as I live here...

and really what I meant to say was that I couldn't convince them to pay extra for it... and really my mom wanted to get that and some other channels, but didn't want alot of the other bad channels that come with the good.  Also I believe with our cable we would have to get a cable box to tune in the wings channel, which would mean that I would never get to see it since there are 4 other people trying to watch something else..

lol...a lot if ifs, ands, and buts...  ;D
