Who Should Pay?

Postby jrpilot » Tue Oct 19, 2004 5:46 am

I was just looking at a few colleges in the vicinity of NYC for aviation and found a few great schools...but the price are high which I am very aware of..but anyways who do you think should pay for the college education of the pilots?...I think that the pilot should pay and if he passes and everything goes well then his airline should pay it off ( or atleast some of it)...but if he fails (by not passing the class) he should then pay for the classes...what do you think?

Why should the airline pay your education?
Does General Motors pay their workers for their previous education?

Consider that pilots earn more than average (after a couple of years), they have as good chance as anobody to pay back their loans.

the average sucessful pilot will earn $5.5 million in their full career, 50grand to learn isnt much after a while. if you can get a full scholarship then cost isnt a worry, but if you have GPA of less than 3, then its unlikely you'll get one. i have to agree with nexus, why should airlines pay for the education? 20 years ago when pilots were a valuable commodity then maybe, but the fact is today, there are more pilots than places to put them

I have a GPA higher than 3.0 and I haven't gotten a single scholarship that I applied for so far, and I only have one semester left...  :(
