I've been toying around with the idea of getting involved in CAP recently, but I'm a bit old to join as anything other than an advisor of sorts.

Anyone know what kinda qualifications you've got to have for such a venture?
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Its a great cadet program, to tell you- often times hard work, but its worth it; also, hyperion, its not just cadets- there are senior members also; if you want more info just gimme an E-mail at Liftoff1021@hotmail.com , or check out www.cap.gov

Hey everyone. You could also give me a e-mail or whatever. I am Cadet Senior Master Sergent Rychcik. I am also a flight commander for those of you in it so dont get any ideas about trying to order me. If your inflight, you could be a C/Col. and i would still be over you.

Anyways, CAP is a great program. Anyone here that is in these forums that lives in the states should sereously consider joining. I can mail you the phanplets if you want, you just need to let me know. My group has a Cessna 172, 182 and i hear we are getting one of the new Airvans i think they are called. Commitment wise there can be as much or as little as you want. I have some cadets that dont even show up, EVER! As long as you are in atleast 6th grade you can join. If you are over 18 you cant join as a cadet, but you can remain a cadet until 21, if you are already one.

As a futher incentive to join you do get to go flying. You cant do orientation flights though over the age of 18. You can fly for us if you ahve over 150 hours i think it is. Also with them I have been on C-130's and FLOWN, yes handled the controls, of a C-5, albiet in a full motion sim. Landed on 3 engines too, but that is a story for another post. Anyways, any questions conact me. I think there is my AIM screen name with this post, so fell free to contact me that way.

For all of you current cadets, if you want help studying or what have you feel free to contact me too.

You can fly for us if you have over 150 hours i think it is.

50 hours to act as PIC in any CAP airplane. 100 (maybe 150) for O flights. Doesn't really make sense seeing as how they let cadets solo with 15 hours at the powered flight training encantment ::)

I've flown 172s, 182s, 182RGs, a Chinook, airforce 727, C5, and C130 through with my wing (well I flew in, not flew, the last four)0.

CAP is currently starting to phase out the 172's and is going to an all 182 fleet (I can't wait to see them start soloing kids in them) and currently has orders for a group of 182Ts with the Garmin glass panel. Then again I doubt Delaware will see any of those for decades.
