Just for Ozzy...

Postby Wing Nut » Tue Feb 03, 2004 12:23 am

You know, this doesn't look like any Hind I ever saw.  Looks more like a Sea Stallion mock-up like they used in a Rambo movie...

Hind-A

Very old and beaten up to look at it.

Most people are more familiar with the later Hind-D,E,F and G models with the stepped bubble canopies.

a pre-Afgahnistan Mi-24 with 3 front seats...
one pilot, one navigator, and the gunner up front

No idea why they have the 3views of a D-or-later model on that page

The Mi-24A,B and G look like this one, the difference is some window panels and the size of the nose gun.

The NATO Hind-G reporting name is not the same machine as the Mi-24G...

There are a LOT of American AH-46 pilots who prefer a Mi-24P (Hind-F) above their fancy toy in Afghanistan. The russian machine flies better at the top of it's altitude envelope because of the wings
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

That's what I get for posting so late...  It even said it was an "A".  Mark, just think, if you started now, maybe you could have it flying in time for Ozzy Jr.! :)

Alas I'm tied up with the MJ100 project now!
However I'm sure it'd be a great talking point with your neighbours ;D ;D ;D How do your in-laws feel about these sort of toys? ;D

If you're not too stuck on a Merlin (and if it's not too much of a sacrilege) there's a rebuilt Allison on eBay right now too...

This engine has 360 hrs total time, and 0 hrs since a major manufacture overhaul in November of 1944

this engine has been on a stand in storage 50+ years and is in mint condition

*sigh*  You won't find many like this, that's for sure... :-/

Sure you don't want to try that third mortgage on the house?  :)

I'd like to get the house finished first so I can worry about things like second, third, twenty-fourth mortgages ;D
