Autoland for Helis FINALLY!

Postby N4733D » Thu Aug 21, 2003 7:58 am

Yup that's right, just read it. A company has recently developed an autoland for the Seahawk series which will safely take control in a cruise, fly to a hover, transition to vertical flight, and land. It requires a GPS or a Radio Altimeter I believe, but still, that would allow Heli's to get in real weather. ::) :D

Uhhhh...you know what, if I am ever near a Heli that has Autoland installed on it, please shoot me, stun me, punch me in the face, kick me in the croch or do anything else to prevent me from boarding that Heli! Autoland on aircraft has reached an advanced state and there are much less variables, but on a Heli, you will have to have 4 processers tied together to make an accurate landing...just forget it, save yourself some pain  ;D

This isn't real aviation but there was a heli for FS2002 that had an autoland on it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in FS2004. An real autoland is great for students. Now if they could only invent one for RC helis, maybe I might concider getting one.  ;)

Yup I had that heli for a while, really unrealistic but good at times. This autoland would be good since most crashes are on landing or while low level hovering. :P I would also like if there were autopilots / autolands for R/C airplanes and helis :D
