I have no idea why they're putting it on History, but 'Train Wreck' seems like a good way to describe it.

The writer of that article is as far up his own rectum as the people he claims to have the same problem in said piece.
He gives some valid reasons why top gear USA will fail, but then fails himself by giving completely the wrong idea as to why the UK version works.

You need to visit a "coffee shop", it will become a lot easier........so I am told

Top Gear is just a name today. Clarkson, May and Hammond are Top Gear. These three are why you cannot copy it. Also another reason is that unlike other Top Gear shows and the American on is a prime example, they use people who really have no idea about cars. These three are very knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject.

Again, I repeat my suggestion. Bring them over here for one season (or "series", for you Brits), and I will be eternally grateful. They must know how car crazy we are over here. Put it on a major network, in a prime time slot. One of the problems with Top Gear over here is that not many people have BBCA.

I have recorded it so I can't comment on it yet.  But it does look pretty bad.

I can tell you the reason I watch Top Gear is the humor and the personalities, and here in the USA we suffer from a bit of culture induced Disthymia, that is it isn't cool to be terribly enthusiastic about anything.

I think one of the biggest problems, besides not having Clarkson, Hammond and May, is that BBC is not a commercial tv station. You can say whatever you like, without being worried about advertisement income. You want to say the new Ferrari sucks, go right ahead. I don't think you can do that on US tv, even if it is the truth.

Yeah, a bit of a generalisation, but I was quite shocked by the sheer number of commercials on American TV. It's like, adverts every few minutes, then adverts on the show that you're watching.

Got to watch the replay of it last night.

Here are my thoughts on it...

1. The hosts suck. 

2. Having a Stig doesn't equal having The Stig. 

3. They tried really hard to copy the T.G. test track & studio setting, and failed miserably. 

4. Pitting a Dodge Viper against a Uh-1 Cobra doesn't make sense to me, and I like both.
