Motorsport companies are usually very good at finding ways around problems and creating ideal vehicles. I think it is a great idea looking to them for guidance. They know better than most how to get maximum performance and what parts you need where to achieve the things the vehicle requires.

I think that's what the article's getting at - contractors have obviously cottoned on to the expertise available in make strong, lightweight components and structures, and also, as the hull example shows, large single piece carbon fibre sections.
