Christmas has all but officially come early.

:) :) :)
I believe the official release of the news will come tomorrow, if the reports around are accurate.

Can't wait. Although its going to be rather a tough season. Ferrari, then having to support Mercedes, not only as a BMW man, but also a Ferrari fan. Just have to remember its really a honda paid for, Ross Brawn designed/owned/built, team and car.
Then again Ferrari signing Alonso and seemingly pushing Felipe off to the side will make the transition easier. ::)

A one year contract, what is the point in that. First he was going to fill in for Massa and now he is "back". Now the whole season is going to be will he wont he

Its a 3 year contract  ;)
Rob, I can now see Mercedes putting more money to the team having Michael onboard, I am not expecting a world championship, but I am betting he's going to be up there.
His recent appearances show he's still got the skill to beat todays current F1 drivers on raw pace.
I am just hoping its another Alain Prost like return. :)

This is a worrying development, that said Niki Lauda came back after a 2 year break and in his second season back won his third championship so it is possible.... how terrifying!

Seems not everyone is happy about his return, least of all the Mercedes workforce.

They got a 7 time world champion for less than what he was earning in 1994 before his success. The money he will bring to the company will likely mean bonuses for the workforce.
