News out of the FIA meeting today

Max Mosley will not stand for re-election, and the FOTA teams will remain in F1. The rules will be run under this years regs. The teams get more money from bernie in exchange for helping the smaller teams. ::)

With Max gone and no budget cap I'm quite happy with the result.
Jean Todt likely replacement, so Ferrari looking good for next season. :-X ;D
I'm hoping they still stick to the no refueling idea though. KERS being banned is another one that does need to be included.

Full entrant list for next years FIA F1 championship to be released later.

FOTA don't want Jean Todt either, so that could be the next sticking point :-?

I doubt it.
Di-montezemelo doesn't like him anyway. He's always been rather unhappy about the fact that it was Todt who brought the dream team together. It was Luca who went after Kimi specifically when JT wanted Schumi to stay. Same went for Brawn. He could have returned to Ferrari but Luca wanted Dominicali in charge, to try and show Todt that it was the team as a whole who made them so good.
In return what he got was, A driver who struggled to win the title in a car that was lightyears ahead of its nearest rivals for most the year. And who now seems to be happy toodling round in the midfield.
A team leader who couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery,
And a design team who when given the task of creating their first car (the F2007, F2008 were both based off the F2006 which was Byrnes and Brawns car) Couldn't design a car that could win a touring car race let alone an F1 race.
All in, it shows it was Todts team that made the differance, and it makes LDM look rather silly now.
I dont think he'll be fighting too hard for Todt as President.

It would be nice, if they could pick someone a little more neutral.

But I understand the need for someone with intimate knowledge of the inner workings, right down to the uglies. ;)

If that lunatic is put in charge I will officially quit motorsport of all kinds forever. ;) :D

F1 seems to dictate what the FIA is about and do. But people seem to forget they are also responsible for most other motorsports.
A new leader doesn't need to come from an F1 background.

But can you just imagine all the fun new drama that could bring. ;D ;D ;)

only kidding of course. :)

But being that F1 is the premier Auto Sport in the world, they'll push real hard for the choice to come from their ranks I think.  The whole 'the best produces the best' sort of thing.

The plus side for the FOTA teams is, if the offer for him to step down was part of the deal. Then the FIA/Max have just broken the contract agreement and given the teams an easy way out. :)
