Cadillac or Bentley?

Postby chornedsnorkack » Sat Jan 31, 2009 8:41 am

What is a better car, Cadillac 1 or Bentley State Limousine?

The specifications of Cadillac 1 are hard to find - even so elementary ones like length. But there are some photos around. Has anyone estimated the size?

The basic size of Bentley State Limousine is known. 632 cm long, 205 cm wide, 178 cm high.

Which of the two looks better? Bentley has 3 side windows (doors, and behind the rear door), Cadillac 4 (a small window between the doors as well).

I think it is down to taste more than what it better. Being a Brit, there is only one choice. If you are American, well there are two. If you are President, again regardless of taste, there is only one choice. So what is better does not really come in to the equation.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Personally, I 'd take a Bentley. When I was in the USAF the First Sergeant drove a Bentley. When the Vice president came to town his Cadillac (Cadiallac 2? Potato 1?) was kept in one of our maintenance shops. Frankly it just looked like any other Cadillac, only longer.

I've had experience of both - though the current UK cars are:

UK royal family used to use 'Rolls Royce' (name and rebranded for manufacture at a new BMW owned factory) - no longer used by the queen (who knows why ( ;D ) - Great car to drive - surprisingly. I've had 3 opportunities to drive this car (My brother brought this one round as he was commissioned to redesign the front end for a wealthy RR customer) - & yes he ran out of screen washer

Queen now apparently uses a Bentley (owned by Volkswagen but still partly made in the Rolls Royce/Bentley factory in Crewe - though also partly made in the Audi factory in Germany) - Grossly ugly car

There is Rolls-Royce.

Presidents have been known to use Lincolns, not so long ago. And Lincoln is still around.

Why does a new president get a new car for inauguration? If Obama had a taste for Lincoln rather than Cadillac, how long would it take to get them?

Oh, and 550 cm is suspiciously short for a car with 4 side windows.

Roll Royce, the question was between Bently and a Caddy.

Lincoln, the question was between Bently and a Caddy. Regardless, the President would by American.

Maybach is a Mercedes .....

You can't talk about Bentley without mentioning RR as they were brother/sister, more than often conjoined twins (same car - different badges), in their heritage until very recently ...

& yes the US president would always, rightly, choose a US car but the Q is about state cars so the others must come into the equation.

I like the Jaguar XJ8 over the other luxury cars, they just have that incredible look to them.

Hummer Limo  ;D

I think we are getting a Terminator limo for our school prom this year... Our little group.

Both in discussion look pretty wretched in my opinion. Not saying those two above are any better, but besides the badge I would rather go in one of those which I put.
