For once I think Max isn't barking...

I think this actually sounds far more sensible than it initially sounded, and could really re-energise F1, in a way we haven't seen since several new teams appeared in the early 1990s.

thats ok, those 4/5 teams can have their cosworths, and their drivers should be super fit by the end of the season with all the walking back to the pits they'll be doing. While teams who build their own, will continue to fight for the title. :)

Yeah yeah... ;D

It's a step forward though, as at least teams will have the option of building their own engines, and hopefully, they will also be allowed to offer customer engines as they do now.

I think the Honda withdrawal has opened some eyes, and they may be realising they need support from traditional committed private teams, of Williams type, to ensure the sport survives beyond the fickle marketing ambitions behind the entrance of major manufacturers (Toyota, Honda) or, in the case of RBR and STR, and to an extent Force India.

A decent affordable package will enable teams such as Prodrive to seriously think about launching again, and maybe allow (as was seen over the 70s/80s/90s) teams in the lower Formulae to move up (as Jordan did in 1990/1).
