Happy & POed At The Same Time...Got A New Truck.

Ever have one of those days where everything goes right and wrong all at once :-/

Finally getting a different truck after many months of searching and being stuck with my old 89 Ford Bronco II.

Your old car is just punishing you for replacing it ;)
Any time I go off to look at a new car, mine suddenly developes a problem on the way home, as if to say. If you want to trade me in, your not doing it without a fight. ::)

Nice new pick up though.

Sweet ride man!  They dont make them like that anymore, solid and heavy, man I love older trucks.

I think I would lean more towards the happy side of your mood after a good purchase like that.  Can also look at it as a good thing you got it before the Bronco crapped the bed on you, now you still have transportation.

Look at it this way, maybe the Bronco actually did you a huge favour - it held out for you, only allowing itself to break after you weren't gonna be stuck without transport.

I think you should go back & give it a pat on the hood - 'Good Bronco.....'

Have it home after being on the road just about all day.  Racked up nearly 200 miles on it already just from picking it up, running down to the BMV, back home, then too and from work.  Drives nice and smooth, didn't really take it that far on the test drive.  1st gear shifts a little hard but its nothing new to me.  At first I was thinking "oh great...what have I done..." because of how far the fuel gauge dropped just getting it home which was about 30 miles.  But after work I changed the oil which was defiantly needing done ASAP.  Then came the air filter, never seen one that dirty before, it was getting dark last night while looking at it and didn't have the tools to pop the case off.  New one installed and made the world of difference.  Runs better then ever and fuel gauge no longer rapidly drops over a short drive.  Topped off the front tank, fuel gauge doesn't work with the rear tank so not going to use it very often...not too bad really.  Tank is a bit smaller then the Bronco because of having the 2nd one.  Between the 2 I can fit around 50 gallons in.  Not really a bad deal for $1400 8-)

Now I have a $2000 personal loan I didn't really need but got my truck and able to pay off a couple other bills with it.  Auto loan wouldn't have covered everything and the payments would have been way to much, personal loan I could get more money and lower payments due to stretching them out.  Probably just pay it off when the Bronco is fixed and sold.

So its been a good day, everything has went smoothly and supposed to have a quote tomorrow on how much it will cost to fix the Bronco's problems and get it back to the road.

If all goes well then I'm going to be happy for awhile :)

Which engine is in that Ford?  Wouldn't happen to be the straight six?

For winter, just toss a couple of sandbags or heavy friends in the back and go easy on the gas.  I work with an old timer who has never had a 4wd in his 60+ years living here, and always makes it to work to plow snow.  I on the other hand do good to make it in with my 4x4, but I'm a transplanted southern boy. ;)

...Bronco that I can't sell till its fixed, tire falling off with a new owner is just a lawsuit waiting to happen even if I warn them about it

Cant you go to a scrapyard and find the parts you need (whole rear suspension of the side you need) and put them on?

Where i live you can use a DIY garage with all the tools you might need to fix your car, including the special kit.

Its only a wheel bearing, the front ones were changed out a couple years ago by myself and a friend.
