Losing faith in the BBC already

If this news is to be believed then I'm worried to be honest. David croft has been awful doing the GP2 and should stick to his radio duties. As for chiles, no thanks.  Add in the fact they are still trying to find a role for the top gear guys and they lose all credibility.

They have the absolute ideal team in ben edwards and martin brundell. And I know Martins said hes open for talks, so I can only guess Edwards is either tied to the A1GP and BTCC or he's got absolutly no interest in F1 what so ever.  :(

I suspect a fair bit of that can be taken with a large pinch of salt other than maybe the first item. I doubt they'd sacrifice Adrian Chiles for a chunk of the year with the current success of "The One Show".

I read this yesterday, it doesnt sound good does it. Though i also read over on autosport that Martin was actualy in talks with the BBC, he mentioned it in an interview with Chris 'ive had that gorgeous bit of stuff Billy Piper and you havent' Evans on his radio show on BBC radio 2. So thats promising.

Adrian Chiles though - i mean come on!!! The one show may be succesful (my mrs watches it ::)) and even i did when Myleene Klass was on it ( :P) but its pretty dull :(

Why cant the BBC look at things like  the autosport forums and see what the real racing fan wants? Or even let Martin choose his co-commentator!

At the end of the day though as long as the actual race coverage is good, im not botherd about the build up dross that may come with it if the BBC fall into the 'celebs at the GP' type thing with people who know nothing about it trying to tell us whats going on.....id prefer it to be good, but i think its not going to be :(

Because it has nothing to do with the hard core fans. They/we are just a hand full of anoraks. It would not pay if we where the only viewers. It has to be all glitzy to keep Greedy Ecclestone happy and keep your average person entertained. And as much of a Top Gear fan as I am, please lets not have the boys involved. It would be like Graham Norton commentating at the next world boxing match. What Top Gear does and F1 just would not mix and it would look patronising or down right silly. Fortunately I have the option of switching over to German TV and watching. Nikki Lauder does the commentary (did I ever mention I had a beer with him last christmas............What an arrogant little p#$ck, but I guess that is why he got as far as he has) and his commentary, whist a little dated is not that bad.

Interesting, and i understand the bbc will mamby pamby towards the 'casual fan' rather than the hardcore...

But ive highlighted the Niki Lauda bit because it rang a little bell with me...

I forget the year, early 90's i think, but the hotel i worked at happened to be in the right place for the WRC teams to stay in during first the recce and then later the actual stages round and about near where i live.

As a motorpsort fan, you can only guess what it was like having firstly our carpark turned into a service area, and our hotel full of the cream of the top WRC drivers of the day. Colin McRae, Ari Vatenan, Carlos Sainz, Malcolm Wilson (when he drove) and many many others.

It was noted in the bar in the evening, Colin Mcrae (despite his legendary status) was very much a 'do you know who i am'

Purely because he is of a well know persuasion and is not shy about it, so me makes for a good example. No loud suits here, though I do have to adjust the straps on my Tallulah slippers, they are killing me ;D
That is the great thing about the internet, recently we discovered that Fozzer was actually a lesbian ship welder posing as a biker, me, maybe I have never laid a hand on a 737 and really have a thing about Robin Relliants ;D ;D

Still? ::) *Sigh*

Wish they would give up on that. I love Top Gear, but they know nothing about F1 (just look at the episode in which Hammond drove the Renult F1 car - he didn't have a clue what he was on about).

Wonder if I could pick up German TV over here somehow?
