6 years and 17,000 miles

Postby Apex » Sat Dec 22, 2007 2:26 pm

My Olds Alero sports coupe is at 16,996 today, and tomorrow, at age 6 years, will turn 17,000.  Showroom condition.  Just so happens that everything is near me, including work (.9 mile away), so it's been well kept all these years and broken in slowly.  New tires just a few weeks ago, 225 50 16's, and you can feel the difference now on the road with these, it's always handled great, but now that it's broken in, the new tires really make a difference.  Too bad Olds is gone, this particular model really was good, esp for the money.

My 8 year old Opel Astra is pushing 186.411 miles ( 300.000 km) by now. It's a diesel, but still. I'm hoping it'll last a bit longer, until I get a company car...

Take car of your car, it deserves it...

Take care of your vehicle and it will last for many more years.  At only 17k it still has a LONG way to go :P

My trucks pushing 19 years old and just about to hit the big 300,000 miles :o  It has its problems but could last another 300k if treated right :P

One question. Your work is 0.9 miles away? And you use a car to cover that distance?

Crash ;)

Seeing how he drives an Alero and measures distance in miles, he probably lives in America, and we use our cars for everything.  :P

I live about 1 mile or less from my work and I drive there too. It makes the cold and rainy days much less annoying.

Hi Guys, I forgot I posted this.  OK, yeah, I live in the U.S., Miami to be exact, the humidity here is always pretty high almost all year around, if I were to walk to work I'd be drenched with sweat by the time I got there.  Plus, after work, I just want to get home fast and unwind.  Tax returns and accounting.  Not fun.

Ironically speaking, it hit 17,000 in the office parking lot.  Best car I've ever owned.  170 hp at 3000 pounds, a little more power would be nice, but put it in a lower gear (it's an autotrans) and you can get a good power hit when needed.

Thanks for the comments.

My 1.4 Clio is just over a year old and just hit 20k miles...but its kinda dying after having the shite ragged out of it lol ooops

Other side of the coin is that everything is still covered on the warrenty...so whenever the engine decides to pack up (which it does a lot!) i just role on down to the renault service centre and pick up the next day for free  ;D
