Side guidance reverse lights

Postby Ivan » Sun Dec 09, 2007 9:08 am

For anyone that doesnt know the term its the lights on the side that go on when you put the car in reverse. They should light the sides of the car...

Mine has the space for them (the rear end of the front blinkers) but theres no light installed in there. Cables should be hidden somewhere in the wiring loom.

Got a few questions about these....

1: Are they still used on production cars, or is it an optional addon
2: If they are installed, what light bulb goes in them (5W or 21W)
for people who have them: do they help or is it just for show

If you are reversing and looking over your shoulder, why do you need to know where you have been ;D

On a more serious note, I have never heard of such a thing. What car are we talking about.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

The lights are directed to the sides and backwards. So you can evade concrete poles, trees and other stuff that is bad for your paint while driving backwards at night

Car is a Saab 9-3 (with euro headlight units)

Looking at this Saab site: http://www.gmcanada.com/ss/gm/options.d ... brand=saab

It looks like they are still an option on new Saabs. Haven't found out what size bulb goes in them though, easiest way to find out is just ring your local Saab dealer.

Cheers,

TSC.

That is because they are probably not allowed here in Holland. Any extra light except for (correct installed) fog lights will fail your annual APK check.

Crash ;)

And why do german import 9000s pass APK with these installed....

Anything not activated in the computer wont work... even the lights

Maybe they are classed as standard factor fit and as such they are allowed to fall through the net??
