According to Swiss reports, Marchionne was travelling at about 60mph on the Swiss highway when a Renault ahead stopped suddenly. Marchionne hit the brakes, setting the 599's airbags off, and careered into the crash barriers.

He hit the brakes and that set off the airbags? Am I missing something?

Crash ;)

Good, one less ugly ferrari on the road. They should just ditch them all and focus on the 612. ;)

Doesn't Ozzy drive a Renault? I'm just saying...  ;D

And I wonder how doing just "60" mph can produce such massive damage... weird...

Probably because cars like that aren't made of the kind of steel you see in average cars? It has to be light so it's all aluminium and carbon fiber. It doesn't dent, it breaks up.....

that would be the 550, from 2000. Basically the car the 599 has evolved from.

Fenders are soft carbon (at least it looks like that on the picture), hood is aluminium, passenger section is super strong carbon. Probably with alu bodywork. Doors have steel reinforcement bars
