2008 Corolla!!

Postby Boeing227 » Mon Dec 18, 2006 8:05 pm

The 2008 Corolla is coming out guys (in 2008)!

I am announcing this because the Corolla is one of my favorite compact cars next to the Cobalt!. It now has three transmissions: 6-speed manual w/OD, automatic and for once, a CVT! It features a new 1.8L Inline-4 engine that can produce 134HP and 129 ft\ilbs of torque!

Heres some pics:

i dont like how they have put the panels together. Looks like someone cut them a little too small.
Not bad performance for a 1.8 though. Wont be winning any drag races but should get ya down a motorway at a fair rate of knots.:)

Toyota isn't going to drop the Corolla name. They would be throwing away the good reputation that goes with it.

i think it must just be in europe.  corollas are quite popular state side right?  you dont see many here in the uk.  im wondering if they are doing the same as honda (the new civic is amazing), and doing something radiacal to try and break into the younger driver market.

I wonder why all of the Corollas have to have the top speed to be 180km/h. I (My Parents) own a 2003 CE auto model Corolla as that thing is torquey but it's not fast ehough for me. In my opinion, I think the Cobalt is better for speed and power. In fact, I am starting a Voting thread on the Focus, Civic, Corolla, and Cobalt.

Only 180km/h? That is far faster than you can drive (legally) on any roadway that I know of, excluding the Autobahn. It is more than double the speed limit on many parts of the US Highway system, and just under double on most of remaining portions.

Neither Corollas, nor most production sedans, are meant for speed.

focus focus focus focus on what I am about to say.... FOCUS!!!!

Im sorry but the ford focus is absolutly the best car you can buy for reasonable amounts of money. Ford have absolutly nailed the chassis and that thing drives and handles like a dream. If you wrap some decent rubber around the wheels it will be the driver thats limiting the performance rather than the car. I personally drive a mk1 1.8 diesel and I am in love with this car. Plus you get the great ford reliability and cheap parts.

This model I drive is the estate, I am currently scouring the auto-traders for a 3-door hatch (hopefully red) - if I find one... ill be in heaven! lol

At your age I'd wouldn't want you to have a car that could comfortably do half the speed the Corolla can.

Ford Focuses are nice cars. I have been in a few myself. Nice nimble fast cars. Unfortunently, here in Canada they don't come with diesel, they come with 2.0L Gas engines but if I get one, I could probably take the engine out and put a VW 1.9L diesel!

I learnt in a Focus for a when I first started driving. It was quite nice to drive, but you with everything so power assisted you didn't really feel connected to the road.

i learned in the focus RS. Or whatever the sports thing is called. In the countryside and other twisty roads. Beautiful car to drive. The steering was i agree way too light though. But this car on the M42 on the section that is concrete, its really bumpy. It would destroy your spine. This during pass plus lessons. It was seriously such a stiff ride you could feel a little freaking stone. Plus in towns, it became very very twitchy. Almost to the point where your afraid to put too much gas going round a corner. I am torn between it being a good car and a bad car. I'd imagine the standard version with the softer suspension and lack of a diff is much better day to day.

Indeed it does, when viewed in the rear view mirror of an Audi A3, the best hatch in my opinion  :)
