Do american muscle cars even have steering wheels? Or are their only controls a big throttle? ;D

One of my faves- I love how the guy sort of keeps going, still in the sitting position, as the car just disintegrates. This could be a case where not wearing a seat belt saved somebody's life... :P

Street rods like the 'Vette are not known for jinking at high speeds- he accelerated too soon after veering, otherwise he could've made it around that truck with no problem.

LOL, you just keep believing that, watch the video again, at no point do the wheels leave the tarmac road or hard shoulder, in fact, the rear wheel only just touches the white line nearest the camera as the car has started to slide.

LOL 'Corvettes takes corners great' - you crack me up. - *cough* Well, actually, the 06 Corvette DOES corner great, despite it's leaf springs rear suspension, but the older ones were awful - & the car in the video isn't an 06.

Cheers,

TSC.

Its true that American cars don't corner well but thats because of what they are designed for.  The muscle cars were built for the highway, driving fast in a straight line-unlike the European cars.  They are designed for different types of driving.

From what it looks like to me, the Corvette simply had the rear end pass the front.  With high torque muscle cars, if you hit the gas too hard the rear end will actually try and pass the front end by going around the car.  Its quite amazing to experience.  In this case, the car didn't get completely straight and he hit the gas, that caused the loss of control.  Had he not hit the gas at the wrong time, it would have recovered just fine.
