Top Gear Help..........Please

Postby expat » Mon Jul 17, 2006 11:18 am

Hi Guys

I have a small problem with Top Gear. In the summer the trees opposite my house are naturally full of leaves. This is blocking my digital satellite signal to the point that I loose the terrestrial channels. Normally, Top Gear is on earlier in the year and the trees are a little thinner, so not such a problem. Not being a TV addict, this does not disturb me, except where Top Gear is involved.

Before anyone asks, cutting/trimming of the trees is OUT OF THE QUESTION. I am in Germany. Taking a chainsaw to a tree, well you get les for murder and the trees are on town property.

Can anyone please record the rest of the series for me, starting with the repeat of Sundays show. I will willingly pay for the tape and postage to Germany.

Thanks

Matt

Put your tv aerial on a pole a further 10 feet up. That should clear the trees. :)

Accidently follow Clarkson/May/Hammond's lead and accidentally...

a) knock them over...

b) burn them down...

c) industrial strength weedkiller?

and then blame it on someone else...

Ok Charlie, I can see my residents permit being withdrawn dam sharp-ish if I follow that advice. Marching into a school (location of said trees) with a chainsaw, probably viewed with the same outlook as if I was to walk thought the play ground with my 9 Mill..........
Anyway thanks for all the "advice", but after trying to get a proxy connection with no luck (thanks Eno, but the Beeb will not allow me access from an over seas IP address, copy right blah, blah), I came across a website that would make it "possible" for me to watch TG at my leisure.

who said anything about fifth gear?

i believe that link says www.finalgear.com which encompasses both Top Gear and Fifth Gear torrent downloads.   You can download the episodes normally within a few hours after being broadcasted in the UK.  ;)

I watch both.  Fifth Gear is a great appetizer before the main course (top gear).

Already tried putting it on the highest floor of the house?

Which sattelite do you use? Astra in europe has enough signal strength to work in a built-up area with the antenna on ground level even when there are a lot of buildings around

I have tried many, many times. I always get a window that tells me that as a non UK ISP I cannot view. And yes it is Finalgear where I managed to download.

Tried every trick in the book. Digital is just tooooo sensitive. Trees are the real enemy here. They disrupt the signal more than any building.

Maybe we could start a petition for Vicky to jump channels (Admin, we need a drooling smiley)

she might look ok, but god is she annoying. I think with the addition of TG dog, they have the perfect line up. They are all funny in their own ways, their differant driving styles cover the majority of drivers and in general they arn't annoying ;D
