Track Day....

Postby 4_Series_Scania » Mon Nov 14, 2005 2:29 pm

I've had the fortune of a so-called "Track Day" which was held  at a local airstrip, which is used just for gliders these days.....

To cut a long story short, I've found that an afternoon of thrashing round the infield, has caused me some smooth patches on the edges of my tyres, I need new front brake pads and I've probably taken 10k of wear & tear off the rears, I seem to have found a new "clonk" from my front suspension and I now have a slight wheel wobble & 70MPH.

That said, I've been timed, accurately, @ 142MPH I've been doing powerslides in a safe enviroment (i.e. off the public road) and I really do now have a feel for what my car can & more to the point, cannot do.

Todays antics were soley a "spur of the moment" thing , and, I enjoyed myself immensely.

The prospect of about

I've done racing (Formula Ford and the XR2i Cup) at Brands Hatch and we used to use our local old airfield at Bovingdon to prepare and test my friend and mines TR8 rally car before rallys or after fitting new parts as you could use the strips for road testing and some nice bumpy grass bits for off-road.
It is a blast ;D

are you talking about your 7-series here? :o ;)

Yes indeed! - Its great fun sliding broadside in a 2 ton car!

That said, I'm looking for an early e30 325i or similar, just for track use, its seriously good fun & addictive, but I , with hindsight, regret taking my "7" for such abuse......

;D

The speed test was the best for me, its amazing how fast you run out of runway @ 140+ MPH!  :o :-X :-[

No major damage done, I won't be doing this every week though, its way too hard on the car and tyres.

Yes, I'm a hooligan, at least off the public roads.

;)
