what kind: classic series or new one (defender). FYI: the new spanish version (Santana PS10 / Hannibal) has a better seat position and is a little cheaper

Series 2 Diesel. Preferable with the canvas roof as that would give me the option of four varients, estate, pickup, soft top and no top.

Seems that the classic landrover is in short supply here since the tax regulation for vans has changed...

Anyone that drove a vito or transit has been looking for something with a big trunk and low cost that hauls 1500kg trailers/caravans, so all the big (107, 109 and early 110) landies are gone except the terribly expensive ones (a 11000 euro Series 2 109 in concourse state), LPG modifications ( noooooooooo!!!!) and the non-drivable wrecks.

Anything from after 1980 and any non-diesel isn't an option as i have to pay the whole bunch myself (1600 fcking euros road tax for these if they are under 25 years of age), and i just don't have the money to keep the thing running if it isn't a diesel (see hint about sunflower oil)

Nice! those camero's seem popular for a first car.

They really aren't that popular as a first car here, I just got lucky basically.  They are a very popular car, but usually kids get their first car because they're parents buy them one or they save up for one.  Generally, they are too expensive for a high school kid to save up for (unless they are a 70s or 80s model because those can be dirt cheap-but not the newer ones) and the insurance is too high.  Also, most parents won't buy one for their kids mainly because of the insurance cost and the higher performance-they are pretty easy to wreck.

But, they are an awesome first car from a drivers standpoint.

Ya the Camaros are nice cars.

Most kids I see around here are driving the small and cheap Hondas, Nissans, Mitsubishis, things like that. Less that their parents have to spend on insurance and less they gotta spend on gas. Not bad really.
