Ok, so I was pulling out of my schools parking lot after school today, and the car accellerated as usual, but then there was a breif loss of power.

Open the bonnet, and hit the engine hard with a 6lb ball hammer. Close bonnet and start up engine. Listen for change in rattle. Repeat intill you deem the problem solved. ;D

Probably something to do with the valves; have you listened closely, standing near the engine while it's running ? The power drop may be unrelated, but rattling is bad. To fix this, you may need a very large hammer or a lot of money... whatever the case, it sounds like you'd better do something about it soon.

Its goin into a shop tomarrow.
Don't know what good that will do.  I am very short of money because of a trip to europe I will be taking, and it doesn't look good even after that(college)

No, no.  Hammers are for repairing computers.
To repair a car-scream at it, chances are it will do something eventually

You misunderstand me- hammers are certainly used to HIT computers; with a car, a hammer is used to THREATEN. Followed by pathetic, grovelling apology, with lots of pretty lies and stroking.
Anyway, good luck. Maybe your mechanic will take pity on you, and allow you to pay in installments (not that a valve job is the ultimate wallet-buster!).
And no matter how it turns out, if you fret over this on your European trip, we'll all be waiting at your home airport to smack you upside the head.  ;D

I think the doc said it was a connecting rod that went out.  No, when it broke, I was not "pushing" the car very hard.

Did one of the connecting rods break?  Yeah, thats not good.  I suppose it could be fixed if you wanted to rebuild the engine but I doubt its worth it on a MX-3.

Thrown rod... very bad. Trashed cylinder; trashed head... paperweight. Sorry. Probably not worth a rebuild; buying another engine could be cheaper.  But it'll all work out. I've had several cars die on me, and I always managed somehow... :)

I don't think a new engine would be worth it.  Back in november I wrecked it, and my repairs don't look that great.

If I get a good job, my dad will give me the Pony, and I would finance it.  Lots of great memories in that Mustang, first car I ever drove, first date, first time over 100mph.  The bad thing about getting the Mustang, it that I have zero time for a job because of school and band (I may even be hired by the local air base to play taps!).  So I'm takin' it day by day, bumming rides off friends.  Don't want to ride bus, because it is actually 2 bus routes combined, and there is no room
