Not sure how to spell it ::)

Anyway, I was hearing grinding and squeaking noises so I took my car to Les Schwab to be inspected. They looked at it and told me it would take $300 for parts and labour! :o ::)

So I took it to another mechanic who is extrimily honest and liked by everyone, and he fixed it for $89 ;D

Les Schwab told me that I needed whole new brakes on both rear tires ::)

In reality I just needed a couple brake pads and another small part. I was told that it's easy to do yourself, but i'm the most mechanically illiterate person

it really is an easy part to change if you know how, and certainly not a $300 part thats for sure.

He really shouldn't be a mechanic if he thinks the breaks go on the tires! ::) :P ;D

They are probably brake drums in the back which usually are expensive to replace because of the amount of work they are (believe me-I've done them).  You have to take them complately appart and replace the shoes (there are no pads) and then put them back together-and it's a lot of work.  But, $300 sounds a little steep to me, but Les Schwab's is usually slightly over priced.
