ALPHASIM F-22A in FSX

Postby hatter » Mon Jul 02, 2007 9:30 pm

Hey all,

Considered the payware forum, but since this is directly related to FSX, decided to post here.

Having upgraded my video card two months ago, I decided to get FSX recently. It still runs fairly slow, but for the most part it is playable, and I'm pretty impressed graphics wise (It looks on par or prettier than my FS2004 install, which is quite heavily modified).

I tried moving the files for my FS2004 ALPHA F-22A, and, surprisingly, everything seems to run smoothly, and all the gauges and the VC seems to operate normally. However, whenever I fly the F-22, the bottom fifth of my screen is always completely black, with the image showing on the top 4/5th. If in VC, the bottom fifth is simply cut off, but if in spot, it seems like the entire frame is compressed into the top 4/5th.

I know its a long shot, but does anyone know what the problem is, maybe a gauge, or something else? I will attach a screen shot soon.

I know what it is mate. Go to your aircraft panel.cfg. Now, open it up, and scroll down to a section labelled Window.00 (I think). There should be a setting saying "Render 3D Window=1". Set the 1 to 0. Enjoy your bird!  ;)

Wow, thanks a lot! That definitely did the trick!  ;D

I'll fly around with it over the weekend, but it seems that, discounting that one hiccup, the Alpha FS9 F22A is fully FSX ready: autopilot works, gauges look and read great, model and VC textures fit and look good, and it performs well FPS-wise.

Does it have good flight dynamics?

I laugh. It has AMAZING Flight Dynamics, as well as an AWESOME VC, and downright SEXY external model(s).

Best money I ever spent on an FS addon  ;)

Actually, there might be a memory leak somewhere with FSX. I can fly the thing for as long as I want, but when I quit out of the flight to the main menu, it almost always reports something along the lines of "too much memory is being used." Far from breaking the sim, as the worst thing that happens is FSX restarting.

As for flight dynamics, I don't know much about the actual flight dynamics of the Raptor, but the Alphasim model can 1.) Supercruise (very easily), 2.) and pull off some ridiculous maneuvers, with the 2D thrust vectoring fully animated. It is also very easy to fly; I esp. like the center console autopilot, which is extremely easy to set thanks to a numpad.
