Traffic 2005 or MyTraffic

General discussion about payware add-ons

Traffic 2005 or MyTraffic

Postby Tomaz » Sat May 09, 2009 5:11 am

I'm surfing the net in search of this answer but no luck. Is somebody here who tested both of these add-ons? I'm talking about Traffic 2005 and MyTraffic. I'd like an add-on that gives me traffic all over the world with little or no effort with as little as possible impact on framerates.. I know I know free traffic custom made is the best.. sorry I don't have 6 months to set up traffic myself. Ultimate traffic on the other hand is too framerate unfriendly for my machine (AMD 2.4, 3GB RAM, GeForce 9600 GT... my processor blows :) but has better models.

So what do you recommend.. Traffic 2005 or MyTraffic or maybe something else?

I'm sorry, maybe I should put this in the payware section on the bottom... I didn't see it before. But my question still stands.

Many of us use neither but have opted for the excellent World of AI packages.

I know I know... WOI or that other thing are the best... I looked into it and I guess it's really not that complicated.. I'm wondering.. how this actually works.. if I add an Italian airline which flies to Germany.. do I get those planes on both airports (Rome and Frankfurt for example)? I know.. stupid question.

On the internet there are many reviews and comparisons between Traffic 2005 and Ultimate Traffic.. but there is little or no information on MyTraffic series... any experiences with that product?

One more thing.. how about frame rates if you compare Traffic 2005 and World of Ai?

WOAI is frame rate friendly, and has better looking models than Traffic 2005/MyTraffic.

I tested MyTrafficX in FSX. It's as frame rate unfriendly as you can possibly think about. Also it eats your hard drive space alive. (On my old comp it took nearly the same HD space as FSX itself without addons) and lagged as hell. sure my old PC was a P4 2.4 and a GF 4 MX 420 with 512 megs of RAM, but there must be limits. Everything on minimal with 50 % traffic - 2-3 FPS. I have it on FS9 on my new computer (specs below) and it runs smooth.

Go with WOAI, it's what I use for FSX. It lowers my fps with about 5-8 and takes about 2,5 GB off my hard drive, but I have an insane amount of AI.

Go with WOAI.

nVidia GeForce 9600M GT

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32

Do not waste your money on that payware traffic manure... I've tried MyTrafficX and it was an absolute nightmare. Things got so bad that I had to do a complete OS reinstall to get that good performance back that I had before installing MyTrafficX

Now I'm happily running WoAI for FREE with MUCH better looking models and have downloaded 485 packages in all (a few new ones I haven't gotten yet) and my frames are running like a dream.

Do yourself a favor my friend. Save money, stress, and time and get WoAI

Thanks for all your comments. I indeed installed WoAI, so far I downloaded around 200 packages and my frames are doing great so far! Models are looking good, the only downside is installing all those packages.... it takes some time.. but not that much, so I too recommend World of AI.

Well... nobody had anything good to say about payware traffic addons.

I installed WOAI (had some problems with avsim not working and flightsim not having all the packages.. that sucked) but now I have all the major airlines for Europe installed and some others (over 200) and my comuter is still running smooth, models are great looking, well the only downside is that some airports are not very busy. So the only plus side of payware addons would probably be busy airports all over the world.

Well, I'm happy with WOAI so far.

What do you use for traffic?

Is the WOAI installer uploaded somewhere else? Link on their page points to the avsim library which obviously we can't download from anymore.

Dunno. I hate hackers so much for doing this. They destroyed a great community.

No biggie  ;)

I wasn't really against freeware traffic addons I just didn't know much about them except that you have to install everything yourself, every airline and so on. With payware it's just a few clicks. I considered that a big advantage. But I was wrong. You get poorer models and more impact on frame rates with payware.

WOAI installer files were on AVSIM site  :-[ I don't know if you can get them somewhere else. On their site files are still linkd to avsim servers. They should change it or something.
