General discussion about payware add-ons

FSX Environment Recommendations!

Postby Fly2e » Tue Oct 09, 2007 2:21 pm

[CENTER][color=black][size=16]I wanted to post this thread so that others may enjoy the wonderful FSX Payware products that are currently out and those that are under development.

In the days of FS9, there were many popular developers that independently created these add ons. With the release of FSX, many of these developers have joined forces to offer compete, enhancement packages. This is great as now you will be able to purchase a few add ons and get more of a bang for your buck!

Below is a list of these great products that can be upgraded. This is for scenery or enviroment payware products to create an awesome FSX "Scenery" simulator.

Remember, it's all about the "enviroment in which you fly"

FSX Environment Recommendations!

Postby Fly2e » Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:12 pm

REAL ENVIRONMENT XTREME
From the maker's of Real Environment Professional comes... REX!
"REX is being developed by new team members, as a more technologically & artistically advanced, hi-definition texture utility for the simulator pilots who require a more advanced feature set. The bulk of the content is being produced from extremely hi-resolution film photography, NOT digital, with the utmost artistic attention to detail. Source material is then laser drum-scanned and our proprietary artwork and textures are maintained in hi-definition format to allow its amazing detail and clarity to become evident within the simulation environment."
FTX Features:
* User-friendly intuitive interface.
* Ultra-realistic photo-real 3D clouds.
* Sky color environments.
* Convincingly real water environments with tropical reef simulation.
* Airport environments.
* Multiple variations of sun, lens flare & new lightning bolt algorithms!
* Custom effects.
* Roads & highway textures.
* Lighting environments.
* 3d clouds resolution options for performance preference.
* Ability to save & recall themes.

** REX SCREENSHOTS!**

GROUND ENVIRONMENT X!
"Ground Environment X brings all-new ground textures to FSX, and it boasts an incredible 1 m/pixel texture resolution, using native 1024x1024 pixel images, and includes all seasons, meticulously designed night textures and the latest techniques in autogen placement and alignment. All this while keeping maximum Flight Simulator performance in mind during development."
Ground Environment Features:
* Complete coverage of the USA and Canada (including Alaska).
* 1m/pixel - 1024 x 1024 Texture Size - Hand Crafted To extreme Detail.
* High Performance, extreme density and perfectly aligned autogen.
* Realistic custom designed night textures.
* All seasons including snowy winter.
* Textures derived from licensed Arial and Satellite imagery.!
This is the first of a planned 3 version series that includes the current USA/Canada version. They are planning a Europe version, and an Oceania/Africa/Australia version, for future release.

Good afternoon Dave... ;)

I am wondering now that I have "Acceleration" downloaded what to order next.

Ultimate Terrain Canada and something else for Bugsmasher Flying and to make the circuits and ILS approaches look more realistic.

I would also like to get some type of Bugsmasher download as if I order three items there is a discount I believe.

All suggestions would be appreciated.   ;)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

REX... I hope it doesn't cause a frame hit.. and another thing I'm worried about is will it be compatible with Str1ker's FSWC? I'm thinking we'll have to wait, but I think I'll wait to see what people say of this product before I buy.. as we all should do.

SubZero:

If you can run FSX, you can run REX. You will be in control of compression settings as well as texture sizes. A bit of reassurance on the FSWC side. All I can say is Str1ker is a friend of mine, but I can't say much else  just yet, except... well...  ;)

Soon all will be divulged.

Great job Rex! I am almost dance in my room and tear out. I'v watched the Tim's video3 over and over and over! I also have boat addons;)so..
no DX10 not ok to run?
Hi, Tim and v-pilots can you give some advices?

First, I don't know the current environment softwares support the Realtime weather update function in FSX or not? Is the beautiful environment( cloud, water and land ) just stay at your depart area?

Second, I saw those amazing videos, water and cloud. Those WoW environment in FEX and REX vidwos need you to adjust many of options for a pretty while? or simply select a few defult option?

Third, do we need to set the under water terrain before I enjoy the REX like video3 or the REX just follow the FSX terrain data and click to fly?
and, How long do I need to wait the REX? in months or days or longer? hardly to wait

my system with 512Mb video card and 2 GB ram and Duo core. Is this ok to run the current environment soft?

Thanks alot any illumination and advices!

Seconds after I made the decision to buy a environment addon, I hope to get some advices, then, I open forum. And so lucky, I saw this topic at my first glance. Thank you so much Fly2e! nice meet again.

Hello, I have Active sky X and Graphic X, I want to know if FEX will be compatible or is it overkill. And what would be the best addon with all of HIFI stuff. (active sky X, Graphics X, and PAX) :)

I know have a 64 bit 4 quad processor box, with nvidia 512 9800 GTX, and 4gb memory.
oh on Windows Vista Premium 64 bit OS.

with great power, it takes great flight simulator ability!

or should I just get all the addons and c what happens.

Wow cool screen shots, where did you find that American Airline 747 livery.
will I need to grab the new PMDG 747 for FSX? totally awsome!!!
