Carenado and REX

Postby Ferrari308guy » Sun Jan 04, 2009 3:44 pm

Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying either the Carenado Cherokee or MJ20 for FSX. I read some reviews, and it looks pretty decent. I'm just curious about how they are on FPS. Carenado says their planes are FPS friendly...but everybody does. I didn't know if anybody here could tell me their thoughts. I'm especially interested in the FPS in the VC, as that's what I use all the time.

I also am looking at REX, the quality looks awesome, but, I'm not sure how the FPS hit is. I've heard mixed comments about this, some say there is a hit, some say there isn't. I don't know if anybody can give me their thoughts as well.

Specs:
EVGA GTX260
Nvidia 780i Motherboard
3GB Ram
Intel Processor 820 2.8Ghz

Thanks, Ferrari

i take it you don't have any carenado products already;

i have the 210 centurion for fs2004 and its one of my top 3 favorite aircaft. i don't have any fps problems when using it.

Thanks, I'm going to read more FSX reviews I think, as the FSX products are always the ones with FPS issues.

I have the Carenado MJ20 for FSX and no it didn't take a hit on the frames at all. REX does not hit the frames except for when you fly through the clouds... but then again all clouds do that in FSX. REX does hit the FPS in some areas, but not much. Just keep with the lower res. clouds/DXT5 clouds and you will be good. :)

Let me first start with Carenado. I own a few of their products of which includes the Mooney.

There is NO FPS hit when you fly this bird, is provides the same FPS as with the default but ofcourse is a much better aircraft.

I have also loaded the High Definition paints from FTX for the mooney and even when using that I might have lost 1 FPS if so much. Take note that is a HD 4096 paint.

Carenado builds solid aircraft to be honest

I might suffer a dip of 1 FPS or something with the Carenado C172RG II, or not at all.

I don't know if it's true for all Carenado planes, but at least on the C172RG II, it'll take a very high AA setting, to get rid of all the shimmering on the plane, which is a bit of a letdown IMO...

Ok, I think I'll run off and get the Cherokee then. I'm going to upgrade my processor so I can run my video card better, once I get that tuned up, I'm going to get REX.

Thanks for the info guys.  :)

Ok, thanks for the info. I just bought my new processor, so when I get that sorted out, I'll go on another shopping spree.  ;D
