After the last supposedly 'FSX Certified' aircraft I bought from Carenado that ended up being extremily incompatible, I would be carefull when buying anything from those false advertising B******S

I wouldn't necessarily blame Carenado.  FSX is so screwed up that a plane that will work in SP1 won't work in SP2, and vice-versa.  Its hard to make any model for FSX that will work for everyone.   I think Microsoft actually made it harder for add-on modellers.  For FS9, Carenado is hard to beat for quality light aircraft.

I've got it, Mic. Great plane. Get the RXP version for a few more options (multifunction GPS, HSI). Wonderful VC. Nice soundpack too.

I still would. They could atleast tell you that it is not compatible with SP2, but no....

Maybe that's because it was released BEFORE SP2?

I just checked their website, and what do ya know, they actually tell you on the one aircraft if it's compatible with FSX and/or SP2

I think the biggest problem is the developers can't keep up with the service packs that microsoft keeps sending out.  These service packs aren't just minor fixes, but major alterations of the code.  In the past a FS98 aircraft would work in Fs2000 and sometimes fs2002 with minor setbacks.  Now an FSX aircraft completely doesn't work in FSX2.  Sometimes it even depends on the user's systems.  In short, it makes it very hard for developers to keep up with the updates.  What might work on their computer, might not work on yours.

Actually its not that hard and it is relatively simple, well now SP2 and accel are out and the dust has settled.

Using FS9 SDK you get a fs9 aircraft
Using FSX SDK you get an FSX aircraft.

The trouble was not knowing backward compatibility, and it is this that MS took out more of with SP2. So old aircraft that someone could sell as fsx working no longer worked. If anything MS made it simple. FSX for FSX and FS9 for FS9. Those who have the inbetweeners and are running fs9 stuff in fsx are normally the guys having the odd problem with fsx, frames for one is the biggest ive heard off, a fs9 model does not run as fast as an fsx sdk model. Its exactly why we are converting our ww2 fighters to FSX sdk and why alphasim and many others are also doing the same. You can change textures and gauges as much as you want but if the actually model is an fs9 model then it will never be a true FSX aircraft.

In return for the none fs9 compatibility ms gave us the gift of a new sim with many moe possibilites when compared to fs9. For example right now we are testing new fsx and A2A (ex shockwave) technology that will cut a clear line between sim flyer and actual simmer. The days of 100% throttle and away we go are coming to an end, the age of simulation is coming  ;)
