GA for me?

Postby Tweek » Tue Feb 05, 2008 12:30 pm

Yes, I've decided I quite like GA flying, what with the weekly tours and all.

I purchased the CLS Piper Arrow yesterday (not bad for a tenner), but what with TrackIR, I've also taken a shine to VC flying, and I feel it's not quite up there with the best of them, internally. Nice and all, but not brilliant.

Now I'm just wondering if there's anything about (don't say the default aircraft!) that fits the criteria listed:
- Made for FSX, or at least fully converted into a proper FSX SP2 model. Bump mapping, dynamic shine, the lot.
- Decent VC.
- Not so important, but capable of around 140 knots, so I can use it for the tours.

Though I'll probably end up forgetting about it once AlphaSim release their Tornado, and RealAir their Spitfire... ;D

I'd suggest Eaglesoft models. Most of them are high quality with very nicely done VC's. Unfortunately, I don't know if they have the FSX features.

Yeah, I checked Eaglesoft but wasn't too keen on the aircraft they had. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the help, but I've just seen the Aerosoft Twin Otter has been released, which looks lovely, so I've bought that. It seems to fit the bill quite nicely, so hopefully it'll be worth the money!

Just stay away from Carenado aircraft untill they start building/updating models for FSX

Tweek, check back with our friends at AlphaSim.  Phil and the boys have strayed off the reservation and gone GA on us! ;D

They have a GA machine due out very shortly, that matches your criteria, and uses some new VC guage techniques for a very smoothly running inflight experience.  Plus it just looks cool.

Think Burt Rutan................ ;)
[u][u]hor=EG7 link=1202232634/0#7 date=1202314223]  Definately beware of Abacus. I have three of their sets and they are less than mediocre, at best. Abacus does have a "try before you buy" program - REALLY - try before you buy.
Believe me, I won't even waste my time trying. :P

As for the AlphaSim Long-EZ, it looks nice, but it's not something that I particularly want. I'll limit myself to their Tornado for now (when it's actually released), but who knows what they may come up with next... Jaguar, please!
