General discussion about payware add-ons

uk2000 scenery

Postby pete » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:51 pm

I've never heard of these people until now however

About 2 weeks ago a guy called Gary from there wrote to tell me a file we had was one of theirs. (Incidentally we'd had the file for many months)

I removed the file immediately as always. 100%

Get this today :

The illegal file http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2. ... eEGNTn.zip  is still there

I have given you 2 weeks to remove this, why have you not removed it?. If I do not here from you then I will assume your website is pirate site

Regards

Gary - UK2000 Scenery

1. This guy needs to be reminded that he is dealing with an anti piracy site second to none.

2. He needs a lesson in manners.

support2@uk2000scenery.com

I certainly would never touch a UK2000 scenery package if I ever saw it.

Bad flavour from bad people.

I seem to remember them being very touchy about things, even if they're innocent mistakes...

That being said, they are the only company that make a decent add-on for Bristol which is superb :)

UK2000 scenery is, and always has been very good (published by none other than Just Flight in boxed form in the past), and I was a regular customer during my regular simming days. Sadly I fear Gary's latest stuff is too good for my current part time system!

I can understand why he's a little frustrated if the file is available. Sadly recently a lot of people seem to prefer the "bull in a china shop" method of airing their grievances - which isn't always the best way of doing things. A polite email, or even two may be far more productive. :) Sadly, I admit there is also a lot of very deliberate piracy, so I suppose every site will be tarred with the same brush if something illegitamate is uploaded.

http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/ :)

I hope Gary will realise that this was a genuine mistake. :)

Mistake on his part!

I/we did nothing wrong.

Until I receive an apology from this petty uk idiot (which won't happen because these type of people have heads up their own back sides) 'UKscenery' is a low-life little setup run by a low-life & will get no good run round here.

Idiots.  >:(

Please don't make insulting comments like that. I'm sure it was just a genuine mistake. Why don't you take this up in the UK2000 forums (if you haven't already). Gary is one of the best and most respected scenery designers in the FS community today.

Quite, but to be fair Gary did make a fairly serious accusation which if he had investigated further was not based on fact - in fact Pete had done exactly as he'd asked when the original request was made several weeks ago.

Sadly, as I've said before, a lot of people in today's online world have forgotten common courtesy, politeness and decency and often come charging in with the care and regard of Ronnie the Rhinoceros in my local antiques dealer. Particularly in the formerly freeware dominated hobby where more and more developers are now trying to earn a living.

The illegal file http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2. ... wcastleEGN Tn.zip is still there

Bull/china shop approach - do you not agree (particularly as the allegation was false!)? If anyone needs to apologise now, it certainly isn't from SimV.

Yes, I happen to be one of those "petty uk idiots" who, also just happens to wish i'd spotted your post BEFORE paying for premier membershp!

I'm sure Pete meant no offence by that comment which I suspect was made in the heat of the moment. At least 3 of the moderators/admin chaps around here (along with many regular forum contributors) are from, or originate from, our green and pleasant land (and the mountainous wonderlands on the side and at the top!) ;D ;) :)

Give me your username & when you signed up & whatever is left will be refunded with compliments.

It's not being UK- we have plenty of UK contributors & mods - it's the fact that these petty minds (this was one of a little group who acted together) were all UK. Had they been american, irish, chinese- it's that a little group of 3 talked somewhere & got Simviation wrong.  Period.

I never want anyone using this site who isn't happy with what they get.

It has to work this way.
& it does.

:)

Best not to rise to this language. Oh boy you are hot headed

Ok I apologize then if that will help you, but  maybe you could apologize for calling us idiots and posting personnel emails on the internet.

I could rant on and make more observations about this post, but what ever I say is likely to get turned around somehow, so I will shut up.

I will continue to try and remove illegal uploads where ever I them, it's not a crusade, it a way of protecting my family against financial ruin by short sighted true idiots, this is the serious part of this post which appears to been overlooked. One the big reasons for the decline in add-ons is the pirate industry, we should all stick together to combat this on every FS site and forum and at least I hope you agree with me on this point.

Bye

I could rant on and make more interesting replies, but lets get a life here, so all I will say is happy new year instead.

Why is so difficult to admit you were wrong & apologise? All it would take is one little word "Sorry" but I suppose it's too late for that. What a shame. :'(

Let's hope this is the last of them.

Refunded.

I/simviation did NOTHING wrong. Period. What's wrong is accusing us of something we are passionate about fighting against.

Now hopefully this is the end of this nasty little affair.  ::)
