PMDG 737-800/900

Postby born_2_fly » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:41 pm

Evening all....  ;)

I've recently been having a problem with my PMDG 737-800/900. I say recently, but basically it's happened twice  ;D

I have both the 737-600/700 pack installed along with the pack in question, and after taking off from Sea-Tac (twice on seperate occasions) and attempting to fly the same route, the screen goes black and FS freezes after passing through around about 20,000ft. Unfortunately, I haven't really been able to test the problem from a different airport or with a different model as to set the sim up how it has been for the last 2 attempts would take about 30 mins and as I'm not sure what is causing it the variables I would have to change each time to narrow it down would result in about 3 hours of repetitive data input  :D

I haven't found anything on the PMDG website or FAQ regarding it, and am unable to ask this at PMDG's forums as I don't have a non-hotmail, aol, yahoo etc. account.

(Just to clarify, when it freezes, the sound continues but the screen goes black and freezes, not a CTD, but I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to shut FS9 down, and it is shown as not responding)

I have an X52Pro, and the interface module is running at the same time as FS9, but other than that I can't seem to think what would be causing it.

All the best,
Alex

What's your computer specs ......... namely graphics card /psu?

PMDG products are high polygon with extremely detailed textures.. therefore  low FPS products and will push your graphics card to the max ..... more so if your PSU isn't giving it enough juice.

I have a Dell Dimension 5150.

Soo (I think) a:
ATi X600 256MB GPU
Pentium D dual core processor. (2.6GHz I think)
2GB of RAM.

I hope this isn't the problem  :-[

Because if it is its not really 'fixable' bar upgrading.

I can take the 744 for a full flight, surely that is more graphic's intensive?

(BTW not sure about the PSU, I believe it's 550 however)

Thanks for the help,
Alex

You installed the correct order?

(1: 737-600/700 2: 737-800-900 3: 747-400.)

The B1900 is a seperate program but PMDG jets use an FS external system to run, you could try to reinstall all your PMDG products, or fly at FL190:P

Add: Do you use AIRAC 0709, it works like poop for me, it fully screwed up my FT A320.

Yeah everything's installed in the right order (thats why I want to try uninstall only as a last resort as I would have to uninstall the 744 aswell  >:()

I got the new AIRAC from the NAVIGRAPH site but haven't got round to installing it yet.

I wouldn't have thought it would be the AIRAC cycle as it only uses data when programming the FMC doesn't it? So once your in flight I wouldn't have thought it matters as much.
But I could be wrong.  :)

That's an interesting problem you got there Alex...Of course, it could be something completely un-related to the PMDG aircraft...It could be a faulty AI aircraft that's causing your FS9 to crash...Your best bet would be to contact PMDG Support directly...I have found that I got a reply usually under 24 hours...Keep that as a last resort...Try to delete FS9.cfg as I have seen that usually helps with such problems...Have you installed any new add-ons for FS9 lately? Sometimes those can cause a problem...I remember when my sound didn't work for around 6 months...I figured out that it was a faulty un-install of Active Camera...It had left behind some sounds that made FS9 crash...

You installed the correct order?

(1: 737-600/700 2: 737-800-900 3: 747-400.)

Not entirely true...When I contacted PMDG support about my 747, here's the reply I got:

Ashar,

The prefered order of installation to avoid problems would be as follows.

1) Run the PMDG Removal tool to uninstall the 737 series and use the Remove
Software control panel to unistall the 747-400
2) Install the PMDg 737 600/700 Ver 1.3 and the PMDG 737 800/900 Ver 1.1 and
the optional model update if required.
3) Install the B1900 series
4) Install the B747-400 Ver 1.2

Let me know if you need fresh downloads for any of these

The X600 is a low end card these days..... does this happen with any other aircraft?

What weather /scenery settings are you running?

Ha ha tell me about it!

But still I manage to have every slider maxed and have frames locked at 15 (OK its not alot but in fairness its not that noticable)

At the time it was scattered cumulus with 20Miles of VIS. Pre-set, so not RWW.

Took off from FT KSEA while flying the HAROB2 SID, happened just above HAROB both times, on my way to ERAVE, as I said about 20,000ft and at about 300KIAS.

Autopilot was on VNAV and LNAV aswell as auto throttle etc.  :)

Ok fly the HAROB2B sid again, but replace the HAROB intersection with a near NDB or something, tell me how that goes.

Just done what you suggested Mees but am still getting the same results.

The error I'm getting is  0xc0000005

I'll go and try a completely different route now in the same plane to see what might be causing it.

Cheers,
Alex

Hmm, strange. could it be you have AES 1.90 installed? If so try upgrading to 1.90a and then delete the aerocore.dll.

Yes and yes.

Why delete the aerocore.dll?  :-?

If it's installed by the programme I'm pretty sure its meant to be there.

Aerocore.dll contacts the server of Aerosoft to check whether or not the product is legal...I have no idea what deleting does to it as I have yet to try... :P
