I agree. The flytampa and the aerosoft are great addons. Thats how the airports should be in FS2004. It brings more realism to the overall experience. Two gripes though. Tthe aerosoft audio files for the ground crew sound terrible. So what I'm gonna do is record better and clearer ones and overwrite the existing audio files. 2nd gripe is some gates are not recognized by the aerosoft software. For example, I selected gate B33 and I followed that little truck all the way to gate B33 but the marshaller appeared at gate 10 which was off to the right side of plane. Thats my only gripes. Other than that, I recommend both of these addons. You won't regret it.

Now I'm lookin to get the KSFO flytampa scenery:D

I love AES! But how do you get the catering trucks and baggage belts out?

Mictheslik,

The baggage stuff just arrived for me once engines were off and parking brake was set.  The catering trucks get called via a "Ctrl+Shift+W" keypress which brings up a menu that gives you a number of options.

You have to calibrate your aircraft so that the cargo doors and exits and nosewheel are set up right first.  it is in the external setup ('help") program to do that.  If the doors are not set up correctly... it is possible that the baggage folks don't show up.

best,

I just flew a 747 flight from Las Vegas to San Fran. I bought me the flytampa KSFO scenery. I'm telling you what though, landing at KSFO on runway 28L is friggin awesome!! After being assigned the gate that I'm to taxi too, the airport just looks so awesome!! During the install, you have the option of also installing the static jets so I installed the static jets. The airport just comes alive with the added AI traffic at 56% and the static jets parked at different gates. I'm lookin to get the KLAS scenery as I do a lot of short distance flight from KSFO to KLAS or the other way around and then maybe sometime down the road, I get the KMIA scenery.

The one thing though, I did not use the aerosoft airport enhance program in conjuction with the KSFO scenery because when I go to park at a gate, when I get closer I can't see the marshaller signaling me to eithe go left or right or whatever and I didn't want to have to use spot plane mode because you can't do that in real life. The marshaller is usually standing on a truck but in the program, he's just on the tarmac and you can't see him over the glareshield when you approach closer to parking at the gate.

So not using the aerosoft enhancement, once parked you can't have the gates move into position and link up to one of the doors of the aircraft. eh oh well lol.

I know about calibrating i and everything...I just wondered why it asked for cargo doors...and now I know....perhaps I have an old version

EDIT: Just checked Aerosoft website and 1.6 has been released...I have 1.3 or summit....hopefully I wont have to buy credits again :(....At least they have included some flytampa stuff this time :D

A tip on AES.........

I went into the Aerosoft AES sound file folder and using WinXP Sound Recorder I increased the volume on some of the voices up to 125% to make them easier to hear over other cockpit sounds.  In my simpit maybe it is a little harder to hear than on a standard desktop sim setup .... but I found some of the original voices a bit "muddy".  Might use a graphic EQ too at some point to change the sound contour a bit to emphasize the mid to high end.

I still am amazed at the effect this simple addition has on the sim!

I am shocked that this is the first that many of you have heard of this great addon!  :o

It's already on it's 6th release, with more airports and functions added each release. I already have 3 credit packs and all of my flytampa airports AES'ed, along with Frankfurt, and Budapest.

One of the most fabulous addons out there!

All the best,
Alex

Alex,

Yup... it is kinda' new to me.

One PROBLEM withj\ it is that it is for a lot of PAYWARE airports that I do not fly into.

Some of the FLyTampa stuff (I have KBOS and KNCM) will likely get added into my sim..... but a lot of the other stuff....... I could care less about.

NOW... if they went and added these functions into a lot of the DEFAULT FS2004 airports,... and supported a few of the major FREEWARE add-on airports...... then I could see my credit card burning up with buying credit packages.

I have simmer's sky Japan Airports....... like Narita and Kansai and others... and AES for THOSE would get my attention in a hurry.

This addition is SO great it is amazing.

best,

LOL! I agree totally John, but some of the guys over at the Aerosoft forums said that they want to focus mainly on Payware, and their airports, as it generates more interest for their products. Which to be quite honest I think is rubbish, I mean, a credit pack is a credit pack, and they would be selling to a MUCH bigger market if they did support airports such as ISD's. The one thing however, is that Oliver Pabst has mentioned that to AES default airports is difficult, as it is something to do with the Jetway movement etc.

Also, however much I would love to see more and more airports added, someone once quoted 30+ hours work for each airport (depending on size obviously) and understandably, that is a lot of someone's time and effort! I'm sure it will take time but eventually we will start having our share of freeware AES'd airports  :D

All the best,

Alex

Alex,

They can focus on their own stable of airports all they want........ but for me..... then they likely will not get EITHER my purchase of airports that I don't typically fly into..... AND they won't get my money for credits.

I think they are making a significant strategic business plan error.

Oh well........ I can dream.   ;)

Can't we all!  ;D

You just described perfectly my train of thought, although I was rather lucky with the fact that KSFO, OMDB, EDDF and LOWW are 'virtual hubs' for me, and that I had the flyTampa sceneries already installed. And these 4 airports could all be activated with 2 credit packs (which isn't a huge purchase)

Personally I can't wait until ISD's airports are added, along with some of the other (better) freeware airports.

I know for a fact there are thousands of people out there who would buy credit packs if freeware airports where to be included so I also think they have a very narrow-minded business strategy.

It's still a fantastic product, but who knows what it's future is...?
