Ultimate Terrain

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:50 am

Well I recently purchase a copy of Flight 1 Ultimate Terrain Canada & Alaska while in Toronto.

I see very little difference in the Canada portion of the scenery as far as rural Ontario goes.
As a matter of fact there are a lot of licenced small bug smasher airfields missing. :P

Perhaps I was expecting too much or I do not have the settings correct.

It can be a terrible disappointment...

Some time ago I purchased the CD; VFR Scenery, England and Wales, and nowhere did my garden shed, my trees, and my clothes line appear on it...
...such a shame..... :'(...!

Paul... ;)... ;D...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

With UT you need to play around with your settings.
Airports should not disappear becasue UT has nothing to do with them.
You may want to try and disable some features and then apply them one at a time and see which one may be "hiding" your airfields. Although I doubt that UT is the culprit.

Perhaps Ultimate Terrain only features the larger airports like Toronto Ontario or Montreal Quebec.  Large commercial airports show up very well.

It is the small licenced airfields that have very poor definition or they are not there at all.

I shall try what you suggest and see what happens.

Thanks. :)

Doug,
Ultimate terrain does not add airfields.
It adds the following::::

Extensive Road Network: Adds every available road from Navteq's commercial navigation data. Each road is accurately placed to match its real world location.
This shot is taken in Hawaii. (Ultimate Terrain USA & Canada offer the same stuff), Notice the roads, the accurate coastlines, the landclass that shows a golf course, a city and different textures on the mountains.
Image

Railroads: Includes a data set that gives users enhanced railroad coverage in major cities, including rail yards.
Image

Spectacular Night Lighting: Adds a new night lighting environment unlike anything else on the market. This feature will add actual points of light, to simulate street lights, automobiles, and rural farms. Previously, this functionality has only been seen in many professional flight simulators.
Image

Accurate Water Data: This product also includes corrected Oceanic coastlines, plus islands, lakes and rivers, based on commercial data.
Image

Landclass Enhancments: Adds enhanced landclass textures and placement in metropolitan areas, fields, plains, valley's, etc...
Image

Also included in the product are detailed land polygons for things like parks, golf courses and cemeteries. The polygons will align with the road boundaries, just like you would see them on high quality mapping services and GPS units.

Doug, once the Ultimate terrain software is loaded, there is an interface that you can turn things off and on.
Are you familiar with this?

As you can see, I have Ultimate terrain, both USA & Canada and can't imagine my sim without it!

Lets see, mine is to find here:

"Start(The bottom left corner thingy ;))\All Programs\Flight One Software\Ultimate Terrain\Canada & Alaska\"

-There you'll find "Setup & Configuration Tool" and "Texture Configuration Tool", which I believe is what you're looking for. :)
