Which Vulcan?

Postby gryshnak » Sun May 21, 2006 5:14 am

I'm considering getting a payware Vulcan, looks like there are two on the market - Flightcraft and JF/PSS.

The JF one was my first ever payware plane and I still fly it at least a couple of times a week! I think that tells you all you need to know, it is fantastic ;)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Hmm, I went surfing for reviews and found a 20MB download called PDVUL427.ZIP.  I downloaded it and found a comprehensive model with 9 variants.  It also contains a readme file which says:

--------------------------------------------

FS2002/FS2004 Avro Vulcan B Mk.2 v.01

Full pack of  9 Models featuring Vulcans from 60s,70s and 80s including Skybolt,
Blue Steel and Black Buck versions.
Since the release of preview a custom panel and inproved airfile have been
  added,
Model features include animated doors, bomb bay doors & airbrakes.

  model: Paul Foster.
  texture: Paul Foster.
  panel: Phoenix_Design (2005).

  Email:   phenixdesign@hotmail.com

--------------------------------------------

Is that the PSS Vulcan?  Has it gone freeware?  Or is this a pirate?  Enquiring minds want to know...

This Vulcan is by Phoenix Design, as opposed to Phoenix Simulation Software.

Ah, thanks Tweek.  I bet I'm not the first one to get those two confused!

Yes, the PD Vulcan does look pretty good.

the freeware version that is mentioned here, is almost the same as the PSS version, bar the v.c and i think the sound's.

i remember during a multiplayer session in the pss vulcan the payware one and the freeware version showed up exactly the same, (have got both installed).

nemo........

p.s go for the pss/just flight version.

The Just Flight Vulcan is very good. Contact me if you would like to have a demo flight (if you can get across to Harrogate).
