Best Scenery Addon

Postby squilky » Mon Dec 06, 2004 10:44 am

Looking to get some add on scenery to spruce up my game playing experience. Mostly interested in better looking mountains, trees, and ground textures in general. I don't really care much about the roads. Would FS Terrain by Flight1 be a good choice?

Thanks

Mike

I Have purchased A few add on scenery for fs9 and found the best was genesis add on, the price was right and you can download at there sight after you pick the areas you require. Be warned it takes over 45 minutes to download in some cases or you can order cd.

I hear good things about FS Genesis.  I don't own it, but I still hear good things about it.  There are plenty of freeware terrain meshes available in the Simviation Library. ;D  Also you can check through the library for airport scenery and scenery for cities and bush pilots. ;D

You would be amazed at what you can find.  Promise us one thing, that you will read the Readme files before you install the download or product.... ;D

I'll add my "vote" for FSGenesis terrain mesh, landclass, and American Roads and Streams.  Good stuff.

No framerate hit that I can see.... in fact in some places better rates than the "defaulty"  ;)  mesh.

best,

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out some of the freeware mesh stuff and see how I like it. The FSGENESIS stuff looks amazing, but it may have to wait a little while till after the holidays.

Thanks again!

Gunny,

But they do have a landclass update for the US...... it makes stuff appear more realistic as to "what is where".

best,

It is a separate add on.  And it is only for the USA right now.

So if Genesis won't make things look better, what exactly is it's intended use?

Got FSGenesis Landclass, West Coast, and Roads, Utilities and Railroads. Glad I did. Example. Yosemite looked horrible in default. Now it looks like the park and the advantage of FSGenesis is that it covers a wider area for less the price than a competitor for less area though that could change. ..

Roads update 1.1 patch just came out a few days ago. When you buy something from FSGenesis you also get an account where you download free upgrades and patches. Big bulletin board too with multiple support topics where you can report bugs and communicate with the designers.
